Frequently asked questions

We pride ourselves on our commitment to transparency, using only the best ingredients for your furry friends. Our straightforward approach means no hidden additives or unanswered questions. Your pet's health and happiness are our top priority. PLEASE NOTE, these are treats only and do not constitute a balanced meal. Dog treats should only make up around 10% of your furry friends daily diet.

 

 

What ingredients are in your products?

We use only natural, wholesome ingredients in all our treats. Our treats CAN include, apple (no seeds), curly leaf parsley, kumara, pumpkin, oats, eggs, peanut butter (100% peanuts), beetroot powder, oat flour, coconut flour, ground flaxseed, spinach powder, tumeric powder, rice flour, wholemeal flour, blueberries, garden mint, carrot and banana. Our treats CAN include these ingredients, not everything here will be present in every product. Our icing also includes greek yogurt.

Are your treats suitable for dogs with allergies or sensitive stomachs?

Many of our treats are designed with sensitive dogs in mind. If you would like, you can ask us directly if we can make an order for your pet with or without certain ingredients (example. no peanut butter) or get advice from your local vetinary service.

Our treats our made with nutrition and health in mind but we are not able to give you medical or dietary  advice, this decision ultimately falls onto the dog owner.

What are the storage instructions?

To keep your friends treasured treats fresh all products should be stored in an air tight container in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.

The exceptions are the training treats and long life bscuits which should be stored in an air tight container in a cupboard for up to 3 months.

 

 

How do you ensure product safety and prevent contamination?

Our treats are prepared in a clean and controlled environment in Christchurch, New Zealand. During the baking process only the required ingredients are used during the baking process of a specific treat, this means no other ingredients besides the required ones are out and used, greatly reducing the risk of unwanted contaminents.

Do you use any hidden additives or artificial ingredients?

Absolutely not. You won't find any hidden additives, artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives in any of our Lick of Approval products. What you see on the label is exactly what you get.

Lick of Approval is a proudly independent, one-person business based in Christchurch, New Zealand, that has been crafting premium dog treats since November 2023. Under exciting new ownership, we remain deeply committed to baking happiness and health into every single local treat we produce. Our mission is simple: to provide wholesome, high-quality snacks that kiwi dogs absolutely love and owners can entirely trust. Every batch is handmade right here in the Garden City, ensuring your four-legged friend gets a fresh, delicious product that earns a true "lick of approval" every single time.
